BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – COUNTRY Financial® has named Sheila Melzer as vice president and chief actuary, Life/Health/Annuity, effective immediately. In this role, Melzer will be responsible for product design, development, pricing and profitability management, reinsurance administration, and actuarial aspects of financial reporting.
“Sheila has deep actuarial expertise and a successful track record in life insurance and annuity product development,” said Kelvin Schill, senior vice president of Financial Services at COUNTRY Financial.
Melzer joined COUNTRY in July 2018 as director of Life/Health/Annuity Products. Prior to that, she spent 27 years at State Farm Insurance, where she most recently served as director of Life Actuarial Product Development.
Melzer earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
