Why COUNTRY Financial?
Whether you desire an opportunity in one of our corporate offices or prefer to interact with our customers in the field, there are a variety of ways a career with us can make a difference.
At COUNTRY Financial, we live by our mission, understand and serve customers to meet their financial security needs. We have a company culture built around a history of serving others – from customers to the communities where we live and work.
We have a rich history
COUNTRY Financial dates back about 90 years, to a group of farmers who came together in Chicago in 1925 to form a fire and lightning insurance company for Illinois farmers who otherwise went uninsured. A year later, the company expanded and began to offer coverage for autos and equipment. Over most of the last century, we’ve kept expanding – and we’re determined to be the best provider of financial security in America.
We're here to serve our customers
From humble beginnings in Chicago, we now have career opportunities across the country. We operate in 17 states spanning the area from Seattle to Savannah, Ga. – and Alaska, too – with over 1 million households in force. We have more than 3,000 employees and 2,000 financial representatives working every day to serve our customers. We offer a full range of financial solutions and services to meet a broad range of insurance and financial needs.
We connect with our communities through volunteerism
We are driven by a culture of volunteerism. Our people are the greatest connection to the communities where we live and work. In 2013, employees donated over 9,000 volunteer hours back to the areas that needed it the most. Organizations like American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity and United Way are just a few of our partners. We also recognize the financial representatives and employees who go above and beyond in their volunteer activities. Our Community Service Award recipients are recognized for outstanding efforts along with a donation to the honoree’s organization.
With COUNTRY, I’ve had the opportunity to live in three different places and use my strengths to make a difference. Whether as a financial representative helping our customers, or as a manager helping our new financial representatives, each day I am part of COUNTRY's goal to take care of people. I have to say, for me, the best part of being a COUNTRY employee is being empowered to help others. - Gina Defa, Agency Business Consulting Manager
I have always been very passionate about information technology. At COUNTRY, I get to share my passion and strategic vision with my team. We as a team, make that shared vision come true. My management encourages creative thinking, reasoning and the drive to succeed. They work with me to make sure I get to work on the things I am passionate about. I am proud to say, it’s not just where I work, it’s where I learn and excel. - Sara Grimm, Senior Business Analyst
I started my career with the IAA Family of Companies as an employee of Illinois Farm Bureau. I was empowered to set and achieve career goals by exploring learning and development opportunities within the family, and recently that led me to COUNTRY. My passion for serving farm bureau members provided me a solid foundation for transitioning to COUNTRY Financial because our culture and core values are rooted in putting customers first. - Mariah Dale-Anderson, Brand Management Specialist
I originally chose COUNTRY Financial because of its friendly, small town feel. Now, I realize that we are much more than that. The organization truly values its employees and allows us to make a difference at work as well as in the community. I love coming to work every day knowing we are all working together towards the same vision of “being the best provider of financial security in America.” - Kyle Simpsen, District Underwriter
COUNTRY provides a variety of opportunities to aid in your personal development. The knowledge that I have gained from attending classes, earning industry designations and participating in the Leadership Development Program has played a huge role in my career advancement. - Jason Lowe, Senior Life Underwriter
I have a great sense of pride in saying that I work for COUNTRY Financial. I came to COUNTRY looking for opportunities to grow my career but, as a new dad, I knew I wanted to spend time at home with my family as well. From my first day on the job I have been impressed with the company’s flexibility to ensure employees have a balance between their work life and their family life. COUNTRY truly values its employees and it is evident that they want us to be successful in all aspects of our lives. - Nick Helmold, Supervisor - Brokered Insurance Solutions
I started as a frontline employee in the Contact Center with no experience in the industry, but with the excellent mentoring, coaching and training provided to me, I was able to grow into a management position. I feel valued as an employee and take ownership of not just my growth, but our organization growth. Having the CEO personally ask me for feedback and seeing an entire department adopt procedures I suggested, are just a few of the instances that motivate me to do even more for our customers every day. - Kacy Donaldson, Contact Center Manager
I joined COUNTRY Financial because I believe in the products and services that we offer. Our corporate values and vision align with my personal goals, and it has become a perfect fit. I come to work each day to build trust and further the commitment to the people we serve. We are not a large insurance company that advertises everywhere, but we are your local insurance company that supports our community. - Fernando Cornejo, Marketing Design Services Manager
Diversity & Inclusion
An inclusive culture leads to better collaboration, greater innovation, enhanced employee and financial representative engagement, and higher productivity.
Employee resource groups foster inclusion. Women in Networking brings female financial representatives together to share ideas and broaden their knowledge and business. The Learning and Leading internship program gives high school students from various backgrounds the opportunity to work in a corporate setting and learn about potential careers.
We help people from all walks of life achieve financial security. To do that, we have financial representatives in rural and urban communities, and we’re expanding our multicultural marketing efforts. We are working harder than ever to understand and connect with a growing diverse customer base through the hiring of financial representatives from various backgrounds and cultural training.
We strive to hire top talent from all backgrounds to fill employee and financial representative positions, and build leaders for the future. One way we do this is through relationships with community leaders, academic institutions and professional organizations, including the National Hispanic Corporate Council, Illinois Diversity Council, and chapters of the NAACP and Urban League.
