The COVID-19 stay-at-home orders meant fewer people on the roads, less accidents, and therefore - lower claims costs. In May, we provided our personal auto insurance clients a 15% refund for two months of auto insurance premium. If you didn't receive your check, please call your representative or 866-COUNTRY.
If you have an active personal auto insurance policy with us as of April 1, 2020, you’re eligible for a 15% refund for two months of auto insurance premium. This covers any vehicles, including motorcycles and trailers that are insured under an active personal auto insurance policy. Policies that start after April 1 are not eligible, and policy changes after April 1 impacting your premium will not impact your refund.
Nothing! If you qualify, we’ll send you your refund check. We plan to start mailing checks in May.
If you have an active personal auto insurance policy with us as of April 1, 2020, you’re eligible for a 15% refund for two months of your auto insurance premium, based on your premium amount as of that date. For instance, if you pay $75 per month as of April 1, you’d receive a $22.50 refund. Or, if you pay $600 semi-annually as of April 1, your refund would be $30.

We looked at several factors, including decreased time on the road, various state stay-at-home orders, and our expected cost savings. We’re monitoring COVID-19’s impact closely and will continue to make decisions that balance your needs today with the ability to effectively serve you long term.
We’ll mail a letter (with the refund check attached) to the address associated with your personal auto policy in May. Please expect 7-10 business days to receive your check after we mail it. Because we’re sending out so many refunds, there’s a chance it could take longer. We will do our best to get clients their refunds as soon as possible.
These refunds are not eligible to be applied as a credit directly to a COUNTRY Financial billing account. Of course, you can use the funds you receive in a check toward your premium payment.
We know times are tough right now, so we’re offering payment extension options to clients to prevent cancellations, late fees, and non-renewals. If you need to delay your payment to June 1, please call 866-COUNTRY for assistance and for help pausing your automatic payments.
Our ongoing process of reviewing and adjusting rates where necessary will continue. However, this refund will not impact future rates for our clients. We’re monitoring COVID-19’s impact closely. Commercial auto results and claims haven’t shown the same significant decrease in losses that personal auto lines have shown. If that changes, we’ll reassess.
