Meet our teams

Pricing
Partners across the organization to design, implement and evaluate pricing strategies that balance customer value, competitive positioning and profitability. The team provides analytical insights, financial projections and stakeholder communications to support regulatory requirements, business planning and corporate strategy.

Indications
Responsible for assessing current and emerging cost trends to estimate prospective premium needs. To evaluate these trends, the team leverages advanced modeling of catastrophic perils such as hurricanes, wildfires and severe convective storms.

Research & Modeling
Drives innovation in pricing and risk segmentation by developing sophisticated predictive models and exploring new data sources. Collaborates with enterprise data teams to establish the data infrastructure and availability needed to support advanced analytics and business decision-making.

Valuation and Insights
Support the company's financial strength and decision-making by providing insight into the company's financial performance, business trends and emerging risks. Actuaries manage and maintain the actuarial data that supports our work, calculate reserves for financial reporting, analyze claim activity and financial results, and complete quarterly and annual statement reporting requirements. Their work delivers actionable insights that help stakeholders understand emerging trends, evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Modeling and Projections
Use actuarial projection models to answer critical business questions about profitability, financial strength, investment strategy and future performance. Actuaries build and maintain these models, evaluate company experience to refine assumptions, and communicate results that support stakeholder decision-making. Their analyses underpin key activities such as Budget Projections, Asset Adequacy Testing, Principle-Based Reserves, Asset-Liability Management and Strategic Asset Allocation.

Product Development and Pricing
Support the development and management of products that meet customer needs, remain competitive in the marketplace and contribute to the company's long-term profitability and growth. Actuaries analyze market trends and competitor offerings, support product design and pricing decisions, maintain in-force products through rate changes and dividend scale analysis, and evaluate reinsurance performance to strengthen risk management and profitability.

Reinsurance
Support the company's risk management strategy by administering reinsurance agreements and maintaining strong relationships with reinsurance partners. This includes ensuring the accurate setup and administration of reinsurance arrangements, coordinating payments, monitoring treaty activity and collaborating with reinsurers to ensure audits and contractual obligations are completed successfully.

Corporate Property/Casualty Actuary
Responsible for corporate oversight of financial performance on all COUNTRY P/C companies and lines of business.

Reserving
Responsible for Loss and Loss Adjustment Expense (LAE) Reserves for all P/C companies and lines of business to ensure COUNTRY recognizes all outstanding liabilities for claims that have occurred.

Reinsurance
Help protect the company’s surplus in the event of catastrophes (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.) or singular large losses. The department also manages assumed reinsurance to provide a profitable distribution of risk on a more global basis (COUNTRY is the reinsurer for other domestic and international companies).

ERM Actuaries use the Economic Capital Model (ECM) to assess the company's capital adequacy and risk profile. It measures key risks across product segments helping management understand risk drivers, allocate capital, assess risk appetite compliance and evaluate the impact of strategic decisions. ECM results also directly influence P/C product pricing by determining the required capital associated with each product.

COUNTRY Financial has given me opportunities to grow into new areas, contribute across multiple lines of business, and develop both technically and professionally. “COUNTRY has supported me at every stage of my career, from my first days as an actuarial intern to my growth as a leader. I’ve always felt encouraged to invest in myself, whether that meant studying for actuarial exams or stepping into leadership opportunities. The flexibility and volunteer time COUNTRY provides have allowed me to stay involved with my family and community, especially after having kids. It’s a place where you’re trusted, supported, and valued as a whole person, not just an employee.”

Headshot of Charlie Jenkins

“What I value most is being close to the decisions, using data, assumptions, and judgment to directly influence how we compete in the market while maintaining pricing discipline. COUNTRY encourages actuaries to think beyond technical outputs and understand the broader business impact of their work. Starting as an intern and growing into my current role reflects the opportunities COUNTRY provides to develop and advance over time. That growth has allowed me to focus not only on pricing decisions, but also on coaching others, fostering collaboration, and building high-performing teams.”
