COUNTRY Financial® Claims Representatives Available To Support Those Affected By Western Wildfires

Bloomington, IL – COUNTRY Financial claims representatives are available to assist clients in areas most significantly impacted by recent wildfire outbreaks in western Washington State. What has become known as the Spokane Complex Wildfire consists of at least three wildfires – the Old Trails, Autumn Lane and Fairview wildfires. These fires remain uncontained and continue to threaten homes in Spokane County, Washington. The combined acreage of these three fires is more than 7500 acres. Widespread evacuation orders are in effect across Spokane County. Wildfire activity also remains elevated across central Oregon in the face of the Akawa Butte, Bench, and Brewer wildfires.

COUNTRY Financial claims adjusters are proactively contacting clients to take care of immediate needs and respond to those who have filed claims to begin the recovery process as quickly as possible. Currently, the company has received 17 claims alone from the Old Trails Wildfire just north of Spokane. We anticipate additional claims to come into COUNTRY this week from Oregon and Washington State.

How to mitigate further loss 

If you are a client of COUNTRY and believe you may have a claim arising out of these wildfires, we encourage you to take the following steps:

1. If you can do so safely, maintain a defensible space around your property, clearing brush and cutting back overhanging trees.
2. Ensure your vehicle is fully fueled in the event you need to evacuate quicky.
3. Maintain a “go bag” containing important information and documents and coordinate with family on an alternate meeting location if you need to evacuate.

5. Make an inventory list of all damaged property, including vehicles, and take photos of all damage to document your claim.
6. If there is spoiled food in the refrigerator, take pictures of the food products and refrigerator before throwing them out. 
7. When safe, take steps to prevent further damage such as tarping roofs.
8. Save all receipts from emergency repairs, including receipts for basic items such as tarps or duct tape. 

Claims filing tips 

Once a COUNTRY client reports a claim, it will be assigned to a claims representative who will contact the client for more details concerning the claim. Depending on the type of claim that is filed, the damage may be inspected in person. Take advantage of digital capabilities during your claims processing experience, such as:
