COUNTRY Financial representatives thanked farmers for their hard work during spring planting season by providing more than 4,000 meals in eight states where COUNTRY serves farm clients. This initiative, called “Feed a Farmer,” was an opportunity for COUNTRY representatives to partner with their county farm bureaus or other ag organizations such as FFA and 4-H, to encourage farmers to take a break and enjoy a meal.
Ciara Icenogle, Farm Certified Representative in Rushville, IL, partnered with Kelly Westlake, Schuyler County Farm Bureau Manager, to deliver meals to farmers in the field. Westlake began her own version of this initiative more than 20 years ago called Take a Break. She and Icenogle deliver meals and Slow-Moving Vehicle emblems and provide vaccinations from the Schuyler County Health Department.
“We just want to encourage farmers to be safe, take breaks and take care of themselves during planting season,” said Icenogle.
COUNTRY Financial Representative Jamie Behrends and COUNTRY Crop Specialist Todd Behrends served 120 pork chop meals from their office in Virginia, IL, on May 7. “We know the days out in the field can be long and exhausting,” said Jamie Behrends. “So, while our farmers are working hard to feed others, we want to make sure they get a good meal too – just a little token of appreciation for all they do!”
