Awards season is the perfect reason to throw a party. Use these simple steps to treat your friends and family like Hollywood royalty.
Set your budget. Party favors, food, and drinks add up quickly. Be sure to set a budget and stick to it. You don’t really need life size cardboard cutouts of the cast of Hamilton, do you?
Roll out the red carpet. You can get a plastic red floor runner from your local party store. Place the runner outside, leading up to your door so people can “walk the red carpet” as they head into your party.
Invite the paparazzi. Have friends with fancy cameras? Ask them if they’ll come early and take pictures of people as they arrive. The more people you have, the more it will feel like the “paparazzi.”
Predict the winners. You can find printable ballots online for most award shows. Print some off and have your friends pick the winners before show time. Have a prize for the person that gets the most right. This promotes healthy competition and keeps everyone interested in the show, even if the speeches cause it to run long.
Have fun with your food and drinks. Work the contenders into the names of what you’re serving. Last year, you could have served “Manchester by the Sea” salt caramel cheesecake or an “Emmaretto Stone” sour drink.
Give away swag bags. Don’t let your guests leave without a bag of goodies. Visit your local dollar or party store and pick up some festive items to give away.
Don’t forget to make it your own! Thanks to these tips, my awards season party was a big hit.
