St. Louis area military moms and dads-to-be were treated to a one-of-a-kind baby shower this winter. It’s thanks to a partnership between COUNTRY Financial, the St. Louis Blues hockey team and Operation Shower.
On Jan. 24, dozens of expecting moms and their families were welcomed at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis for lunch and fun. The event was held in honor of their family’s bravery and commitment to serve and sacrifice for our country.
“This event is an awesome way to show how much we care and value their service,” said Jonathan Caldwell with COUNTRY Financial. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate their newest family member while honoring their family’s many sacrifices.”
COUNTRY Financial has long been a supporter of the men and women who serve and have served in the Armed Forces and has a Military Support Group and is a longstanding member of the Statement of Support Program through the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
“Our service members do so much for us, they face so many setbacks and challenges when they step up to serve,” Caldwell said. “Their sacrifice is one of the many reasons we pledge our support to the ESGR and give back through organizations such as Operation Shower.”
The amount of time and effort it took to make the shower a success is evidence of the St. Louis area’s appreciation for our military members. Throughout the month of January, COUNTRY Financial employees and Blues fans donated hundreds of baby books and pajamas during a collection drive for the event. The gifts were collected at COUNTRY Financial agency offices in Kirkwood and O’Fallon, Missouri, then packaged for giveaway.
In return, donors received an autographed photo of Blues player Ryan Reaves and for each item given, the donor received one entry to win two Scottrade Center Penthouse Suite tickets to one Blues regular season game.
