Sixth Annual Chef Challenge hosted at Minneapolis Farmers Market
Local chefs face off to become next Master of the Market
Set your kitchen timers, it’s time to cook! During National Farmers Market Week two local chefs are preparing to compete for the coveted title, Master of the Market 2017.
Competing chefs will have 20 minutes to shop the market and search for fresh ingredients before the challenge begins. From there they will be given 30 minutes to cook a one-of-a-kind dish from their pile of market finds.
“Buying from your neighborhood farmers markets helps boost the local economy, increases sustainability and provides shoppers with some of the best, most nutritious foods available,” said Bonnie Dehn, Board Chair of the Central Minnesota Vegetable Growers Association. “This event proves how easy it is to prepare farm-fresh goods.”
The Sixth Annual COUNTRY Financial® Chef Challenge will take place at the Minneapolis Farmers Market at 312 East Lyndale Ave. N. on Saturday, Aug., 12, at 10 a.m. with Paul Koffy Morning Drive Host from BUZN 102.9 FM serving as Master of Ceremonies. A panel of celebrity judges will evaluate the chefs’ dishes based on taste, presentation, creativity and adaptability to recreation by viewers at home.
