Donation transforms learning at Jeremiah Program
Single mothers in Minneapolis face many challenges as they work to provide food, shelter and an education for their children. However, a renewed partnership between Jeremiah Program and COUNTRY Financial® will help provide educational and career opportunities for hundreds of local women.
Through a partnership with the Minnesota Vikings, COUNTRY Financial recently donated $50,000 to the Jeremiah Program to renovate five computer labs on their Minneapolis-St. Paul campuses. The program used the donation to purchase new computers, iPads, wall-to-wall furniture and more. The group will utilize the learning spaces to enhance its efforts to help families transition from poverty to prosperity.
“Jeremiah Program’s learning facility now ranks among some of the most top notch facilities solely dedicated to the learning and development of economically disadvantaged Americans,” said Doug Pyle, Agency Manager at COUNTRY Financial. “These labs will help Jeremiah Program explore new ways of working with their clients while providing them with better learning and growth opportunities.”
Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr has also been an integral part of carrying out Jeremiah Program’s mission and is planning to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony to help commemorate the reopening of the renovated labs. Barr launched the Anthony Barr Foundation to benefit single mothers by awarding college scholarships and providing financial support to gain their degrees in Minnesota and California.
“Jeremiah Program is deeply connected to my personal experiences growing up in a single parent household,” said Barr. “We know, first-hand, how important it is to equip single moms with educational opportunities to help them succeed.”
Members of the public can view the transformation at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 12, at 3:30 p.m. at their Minneapolis campus at 1510 Laurel Ave. W. #100, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
About Jeremiah Program
Jeremiah Program leads one of the nation’s most successful strategies for transforming families from poverty to prosperity two generations at a time. The organization empowers low-income single mothers to excel in the workforce and beyond, provides their children with tools to succeed in school, and reduces their family’s dependence on public assistance. These synergistic results form a springboard for ending intergenerational poverty.
