Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

Crop update and estate planning micro talks scheduled for December

Nov. 27, 2017

This December, farmers and landowners looking to learn about changes coming to the 2018 federal crop insurance program and other agricultural subjects will have their chance during two different micro talks led by COUNTRY Financial. The presentations will be offered during the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Chicago.

During their visit, meeting-goers can also speak with members of the COUNTRY Financial agribusiness team in our booth and learn about how we’re advancing in the precision agriculture and drone technology fields. Attendees can also enter a drawing to win a vacation getaway via our travel voucher prize valued at $2,000.

Dec. 2-4, 2017

The Palmer House Hilton, Chicago

Sunday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. – Crop Insurance Update

Doug Yoder, Crop Agency Manager at COUNTRY Financial

Several new, and significant, enhancements to the federal crop insurance program were announced in 2017; Margin Protection and UUF/Third Party APH protection. This session will introduce the basics of these new features that all farmers and landowners need to explore in order to determine whether they will benefit from their use.

Monday, Dec. 4, at 12 p.m. – Estate Planning for Farmers

Rick Morgan, Senior Financial Security Consultant at COUNTRY Financial

Farm estate planning revolves around transition planning. This occurs when a family member joins the operation, at the farm owner’s retirement or at their death. Proper planning makes these transitions smoother and more successful. With planning, both family economic and distribution objectives may be attainable with potentially fewer problems, expenses and taxes. While farm values may have stabilized, many families will still face substantial estate tax consequences and family distribution issues are often present even if taxes are not.
