COUNTRY Financial Presenting Sponsor for Kids Relays in Salem
On your mark. Get Set. Go! COUNTRY Kids Relays is racing full-speed ahead this year with a new name and sponsor. COUNTRY Financial, in partnership with the Optimist Club of Salem and the City of Salem Public Works Department Parks & Transportation Services Division, is presenting the 36th annual event on May 8 at the Willamette University McCulloch Stadium.
“After supporting the relays for 17 years, we are proud to be the presenting sponsor,” says John Jolliff, Western Region vice president of operations. “At COUNTRY, teamwork comes naturally as we help our clients achieve financial security, and it’s truly a team effort to continue bringing this event to our community.”
In this all-day event for first through fifth-graders, teams of four compete in 4x100 relays. This event gives kids the opportunity to work as a team and grow as individuals by practicing sportsmanship, leadership and community involvement.
“It was really important to the Salem community to keep this event going,” says Melinda Mokalla, recreation specialist at the City of Salem. “Kids throughout the city look forward to the relays every year.” About 3,000 kids from nearly 50 schools participate in this annual event.
