COUNTRY Chief Operating Officer Named One of Illinois' Most Powerful and Influential Women

Barb Baurer, COUNTRY Financial chief operating officer (COO), has been named one of Illinois’ Most Powerful and Influential Women by the National Diversity Council.

Council members chose Baurer based on her leadership excellence, impact on company revenue and profitability, commitment to the local community and adherence to high ethical standards.

Baurer joined COUNTRY in 1977. She has served on the management committee since 1989, and has been COO since 1999.

She is a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. Baurer also serves on the board and is the past chair of the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation. She is a member of the Eastern Illinois University College of Business Advisory Board.

Baurer is past board chair and a member of the finance committee for BroMenn Regional Medical System. She also serves on the United Way of McLean County Board. She was named a 2004 Woman of Distinction by the YWCA of McLean County.
