COUNTRY Responding Quickly To Help Clients Affected By Illinois Storms

March 12, 2009

More than 1,300 COUNTRY Financial clients in the Illinois area reported damage as a result of the storms that hit March 7-8. Since claims are still being reported, COUNTRY does not have a cost estimate associated with these storms.

The system produced at least two tornados in Illinois, including one in Sangamon County. In addition, winds gusts of up to 60 mph caused damage to siding and roofs, and several claims involve significant damage to farm outbuildings.

Hardest hit were the areas in and around Springfield and Bloomington.

  • Springfield – 300 claims
  • Bloomington –158 claims
  • Peoria – 128 claims
  • Champaign – 117 claims
  • Raymond – 114 claims
  • Centralia – 103 claims

“We had a team of professionals on the ground responding as soon as the storm passed through,” says Tom Tracey, director of field claims. “We encourage all policyholders with damage from this storm, regardless of the severity of damage to their property, to contact us as soon as possible.”

To report storm damage and begin the claims process, COUNTRY clients should contact the 24-hour COUNTRY Helpline® as soon as possible, toll-free at 1-800-846-0100.

When reporting damage, clients should be prepared to provide a description of all damage they can see. This helps claims representatives categorize the severity of reported claims.
