COUNTRY Responding Quickly To Help Clients Affected By Illinois Storms

July 25, 2008

More than 1200 COUNTRY Financial clients in Illinois reported damage as a result of the July 21 storms. COUNTRY does not yet have an estimate of the damage, as claims are expected to continue to increase.

The storms caused damage across the northern portion of the state. Hardest hit areas include the Quad Cities Area and Ottawa:

  • Moline – 982 claims
  • Ottawa – 114 claims
  • Peoria – 70 claims
  • Macomb – 70 claims

“Responding to our customers is our top priority,” says Tom Tracey, director of field claims. We encourage all policyholders with damage from this storm, regardless of the severity of damage to their property, to contact us as soon as possible.”

The storm produced straight line winds which reached 90 miles per hour. The winds knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes. Several dozen claims involve trees falling on homes and vehicles.

To report storm damage and begin the claims process, COUNTRY clients should contact the 24-hour COUNTRY Helpline® as soon as possible, toll-free at 1-800-846-0100.

“The COUNTRY Helpline is the best way to report damage,” adds Tracey. “Claims will be quickly assigned to claims representatives when they are reported via our 24-hour claims reporting number.”

When reporting damage, clients should be prepared to provide a description of all damage they can see. This helps claims representatives categorize the severity of reported claims.
