COUNTRY Releases Estimate of Northern Colorado Tornados

June 3, 2008

About 400 COUNTRY Financial clients in Northern Colorado reported damage as a result of the recent tornados and storms which tore into at least three communities May 22. COUNTRY estimates losses will top $6 million. The cost estimate could change as claims continue to be reported.

The tornados and storms ripped through central Weld County and eastern Larimer County. The hardest hit communities were Windsor, Greeley and Fort Collins. One person was killed and dozens more were injured.

“We were on the ground as soon as the storms passed,” explained Tom Tracey, director of field claims. “We also called in extra people to help with these storm claims. Our focus is on making sure COUNTRY customers have money in hand as soon as possible to begin the rebuilding process. ”

The most severe tornado was a mile wide and tracked a 35-mile path around Windsor. Hundreds of homes and businesses were severely damaged. COUNTRY has at least 20 claims with losses exceeding $50,000, and six homes considered total losses.

To report damage, COUNTRY clients should contact the 24-hour COUNTRY Helpline® as soon as possible, toll-free at 1-800-846-0100.

“You’ll always get a real person with The Helpline®. As soon as you call, we start the recovery process immediately,” adds Tracey.

When reporting damage, clients should be prepared to provide a description of all damage they can see. This helps claims representatives categorize the severity of reported claims.
