Marisa Rachel Jerde
Minneapolis Bag Design Contest
Congrats to Secondary Technical Education Program (STEP) senior Marisa Rachel Jerde! Marisa created the winning design for the COUNTRY Financial® and Minneapolis Farmers Market reusable bag design contest. Her artwork skillfully captured the spirit of local food in Minneapolis and incorporated this year's theme, ‘Live, Love, Be Green’.
Marisa received a $1,000 scholarship from COUNTRY Financial. Hannah Jones, a 12th grader at Champlin Park High School, and Alana Nelson, a 12th grader also at STEP, were named runners-up. Each received a $500 scholarship.
The winner and runners-up were announced at a special ceremony at the Minneapolis Farmers Market at North Lyndale on May 30. Shoppers can pick up this year’s limited edition reusable canvas bags at select events throughout the season.
“Marisa’s design best captures what the Farmers Market means to shoppers and the city itself,” said Larry Cermak, Manager of the Market.
“We have some very talent high school students in Minneapolis so it was difficult to choose a winning design this year,” said Kevin Thompson, agency field executive at COUNTRY Financial.
This is the third year COUNTRY Financial has sponsored the bag design contest. We hope to see you at the market this season!
