43 Phenomenal Years (And Counting!) of Teamwork and Baton Passes

COUNTRY Financial, the Optimist Club of Salem and the City of Salem Public Works Department Parks & Transportation Services Division are partnering together to present the COUNTRY Financial Kids Relays.

Growing Teamwork with Every Step

For more than four decades, thousands of youth from Salem, Ore., have participated in a unique and teamwork-friendly relay competition. With COUNTRY Financial as the presenting sponsor, COUNTRY Financial Kids Relays has successfully combined friendly competition and positive team strategizing to produce an event spanning 43 years (and counting). Sportsmanship and teamwork are exercised every step of the race. The 43rd annual COUNTRY Financial Kids Relays were held Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Willamette University’s McCulloch Stadium.

    Wednesday, May 31 at 12 p.m
    Saturday, June 3 at 10 a.m.
  • COUNTRY Kids Relays - 3rd & 4th Grade:
    Thursday, June 1 at 3 p.m
    Saturday, June 3 at 6 p.m.
  • COUNTRY Kids Relays - 5th Grade & Mayor's Mile:
    Wednesday, May 31 at 2 p.m
    Sunday, June 4 at 5 p.m.

T-shirt Design Contest

The winning student’s design will be featured on t-shirts! This lucky student will also receive a $1,000 donation for their school and a pizza party for their class. 

2017 Theme

The theme guiding this year's design contest is: Work Hard. Have fun! The slogan does not need to be included in the design, but student artwork should express the theme.
