Internships at COUNTRY
COUNTRY Financial offers the opportunity to participate in a corporate internship program where you not only have a real job but you have the chance to engage in intern activities! Our summer internship program allows you to “test drive” a potential career path and the chance to shadow other functional areas in the organization.
Are you interested in working at COUNTRY Financial and working in our corporate home office? If so we have the positions for you. We place interns in multiple areas throughout the home office in Bloomington, IL, our Central Region Office in Arden Hills, MN and our Southern Region Office in Alpharetta, GA.
We look for students who are critical thinkers, flexible, hard-working, analytical and innovative! If you fit this mold or have awesome skills to offer COUNTRY Financial, check out the Corporate Internship Program opportunities!
We are excited to offer a one-of-a-kind Agency Sales Internship experience. This unique, year-long program gives interns the opportunity to work directly with some of our best Financial Representatives, helping them service the people who mean the most – our customers.
You might be wondering if this is the right program for you (especially if you aren’t studying sales or insurance). The good news is that our financial representatives come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences – some have been in this industry their whole lives, some are making a career change while others are new grads interested in running their own business. The one thing they all have in common, though, is a passion for helping others achieve financial security.
In this program you will participate in local community outreach programs, attend networking events, set appointments, attend joint meetings with our customers and build a solid business plan that will set you up for success upon graduation.
Our 2-3 year talent development program focuses on developing your business analysis and project related skills. As a Business Analyst Development Program Apprentice you will work within a team environment , under the direction of a lead analyst or manager, and learn to take on lead roles as the program progresses.
Throughout the program’s three phases you will:
- acquire skills and knowledge of our business and systems to better serve as a team member on larger projects.
- serveas a liaison between the business community and ITS (Information Technology Services) to provide expertise in the interpretation and understanding of the business.
- assist in developing, implementing, training, and maintain tools, methodologies and process around Business Analysis.
- gain strong leadership skills that can be applied to a variety of roles across the organization.
We’re looking for passionate and innovative recent grads (or soon-to-be grads with a December 2015 or May 2016 graduation date) with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or technology. Do you think you would fit well into this position? The application deadline for our Business Analyst Development Program is on October 15, 2015.

COUNTRY Success Stories
Our goal is to provide an amazing internship experience, including real work, that will help you in your future career. We are happy to share a few of our many success stories, converting our interns to full-time employees at COUNTRY.
Patrick Bonner, Summit Agency
I would not be where I am today without my experience as a COUNTRY Financial agency intern. As a senior in college, I was able to learn the in's and out's of the business through the help of several different mentors. I continue to learn every day. With no sales experience, I was able to sit in on multiple different client meetings, interact with prospects at local events, take part in call nights, and handle customer service.
I truly was able to get a feel for what a normal day looked like as a rep, which definitely enabled my business to be where it is today. Now nearly 13 months into my career as a rep, I could not be happier with my experience and how it allowed me to hit the ground running from day one.
Ashlee Heider, Associate Information Security Analyst
During the interview for my internship, my two interviewers were so friendly and relaxed, which made the interview process very comfortable. That’s the moment that I knew I wanted to work at COUNTRY. I love that even though I’m in a new department as a full-time employee, I still use programming languages and skills that I learned during my internship along with skills I’m continually learning in my new role.
Even though COUNTRY is a sizeable company, every team I work on feels like a small family. Here at COUNTRY, my job doesn’t feel like a job; I feel like I’m making a difference while also having fun and loving what I’m doing.
Joey Spero, Associate Information Security Analyst
I am so grateful for the experience COUNTRY has provided me thus far. I came into the corporate world at the beginning of my internship, and I see a completely different person now than the one who first walked in that door at the beginning of the summer. The amount I’ve grown in such a short time is baffling, and I could not be more thrilled about it. COUNTRY took me in with zero exposure to the corporate environment, and provided everything I could need to achieve success.
When I began my internship, COUNTRY placed me in the department in which I provide the most value, but is also my passion — information security. This was my concentration in school, everything I was interested in, and was also my desired career path. I was set up for success from the very beginning.
Kimberly Diller, Associate Claims Data Research Analyst
I’m incredibly lucky to have been chosen to intern at COUNTRY Financial. I can’t say I felt that way at first — I didn’t get the first internship I applied for, and I hesitated to accept a position in an area I had never heard of. But today, I am so thankful that I did. During that internship, I had the opportunity to job shadow in departments all over the organization, to learn skills, tools and processes that led me to the perfect job, and to meet a number of people across the company that did everything they could to help me land the full time position I have here today.
Now, as a recent college graduate, I get to work with COUNTRY executives to expand the analytics capability of the organization, while still having time for online classes, family, and hobbies (in addition to a long commute!). Even though the internship I got wasn’t exactly what I thought I wanted, it led me to exactly where I wanted to be. Now that’s a powerful internship.
Lucas Raab, Associate Information Security Analyst
I was initially attracted to the COUNTRY internship program for many reasons: it isn’t a corporate behemoth, it’s local to Illinois State, and I needed to get some experience during grad school after switching career paths from accounting to IT. Despite being in a different department and role as a full time employee than as an intern, a core influence of the internship program is the experience of the COUNTRY corporate culture.
As many have told me and I’ve experienced firsthand, COUNTRY’s corporate feel that of a much smaller company: inviting and inspiring interpersonal work.
Matt Del Fiacco, Associate User Exeprience Analyst
Being an intern at COUNTRY isn’t like being an intern anywhere else, you’re never treated like “just an intern,” you’re valued as a team member and the responsibility you’re given reflects that. It’s obvious that COUNTRY is invested in interns, it was a huge period of development for me. My manager while I was an intern knew that my position wasn’t directly related to what I wanted to be doing, so he gave me the opportunity to spend a couple days a week with another unit where I could learn about that aspect of the business.
I’m now working with that unit full-time and love my new role, but the passion and caring that are a part of the COUNTRY Financial mentality is what really makes the workplace excellent.
