Our Commercial Package Policy allows you to customize your policy and buy only the coverages you need – so you get a specialized plan that perfectly suits your business, and coverage that grows and changes as your business does.
The Commercial Package Policy is most often used for businesses like:

- Light manufacturing
- Local trucking
- Other service companies (e.g. janitorial services)

- Business personal property
- Personal property of others
- Liability risks
Buildings and Business Property
Our commercial package policy provides coverage for loss or damage to your buildings and business personal property.
Including exterior glass, maintenance equipment, outdoor fixtures and landlord’s furniture.
Business Personal Property
Includes business personal property you own and computer hardware (for mechanical breakdown, power surge and power failure).
You can choose from three coverage levels:
Coverage for specific risks listed in your policy.
Coverages will be listed in your policy and includes protection from things like:
- Fire or lightning
- Windstorm or hail
- Explosion or smoke
- Sprinkler leakage
- Riot or civil commotion
Broad Form Coverage
Basic coverage as described, plus a few more risks.
In addition to what the basic policy includes, you’ll also have coverage for things like:
- Falling objects
- Weight of snow, ice or sleet
- Water damage
Our best coverage for your business.
In addition to the basic and broad coverages, your policy provides broader coverage including theft.
You can also choose from the following claim settlement types:
Actual Cash Value
Coverage for the current value of your buildings (replacement cost minus depreciation for age and wear). The newer your buildings, the more coverage you’ll have.
Coverage for the cost to replace your damaged or destroyed building at today’s prices, subject to the limits on your policy.

Other coverages in the Commercial Package Policy include:
Extra Expense and Loss of Income
Coverage for loss of income or extra expenses up to $25,000 because of a covered loss (up to 12 months, higher limits available)
Coverage for financial loss as a result of breakdown or electrical damage to equipment or systems
Up to $5,000 coverage for damage to computer hardware and software, phone systems, copy machines, fax machines and electronic cash registers. Includes loss caused by flood, earthquake and power surge.
Valuable Papers and Records
Up to $5,000 coverage for the expense of reconstructing non-electronic records (higher limits available)
Up to $5,000 coverage for exterior attached and unattached signs (higher limits available)
Up to $2,500 coverage for other outdoor property like trees, shrubs and plants (higher limits available, $250 for any one tree, shrub or plant)
Up to $5,000 coverage for uncollectible receivables if your records are damaged (higher limits available)
Pollutant Cleanup and Removal
Coverage for expenses to get rid of pollutants on your premises after a claim, up to $10,000
Up to $5,000 coverage for loss to building materials, supplies or equipment while at a jobsite, in transit or at a temporary storage location (higher limits available)
Newly Acquired or Newly Constructed Property
Up to $500,000 for buildings and $250,000 for business personal property
Coverage to remove debris from your premises after a claim, up to $25,000 plus 25 percent of your direct property loss in the claim
Keeps your building and business personal property limits current as building construction costs and content replacement values increase over time
Coverage for the cost to replace or restore lost data up to $5,000 per year
Liability and Medical
The policy provides general liability coverage if you’re legally responsible for bodily injury, property damage or personal or advertising injury to others. You can choose per occurence coverage limits of $500,000 or $1 million. Total limit is two times your per occurence limit.

- Personal injury and advertising injury (libel and slander)
- Other basic liability coverages including: products and completed operations liability, host liquor liability, and damage to premises rented to you ($100,000 limit, higher limits available)
Medical payments – choose $5,000 or $10,000 per claim for payment of medical and similar expenses, regardless of liability

In addition to the many features our standard commercial policy provides, we offer other choices at an added cost that can be used to further enhance your policy.
Buildings and Business Property Options
Deductible is determined by the building type and location and is a percentage of the limit of the building
Ordinance or Law
Coverage for the costs to comply with ordinances and building codes after a claim
Coverage for loss of net income and normal operating expenses, including payroll, while the business is down due to a covered claim
Property coverage automatically increases each year to keep up with inflation; choice of 4, 6, 8 or 10 percent
Increases business personal property coverage to take care of seasonal increases in value
For loss of perishable stock due to mechanical breakdown of equipment, power outage, or contamination by refrigerant; $500 deductible applies
Discharge from Sewer, Drain or Sump
Up to $5,000, per location, for damage caused by water that backs up through sewer or drain or overflow of sump pump
For damage caused by underground mine collapse
Contractors Care, Custody or Control
Coverage for damage to the property of others while in your care, custody or control
Employers Stop Gap
Available in ND and WA only

Data Breach Coverage
Coverage for many of the costs involved in responding to a data breach and complying with the law, including liability costs if you're sued, plus professional assistance to help you react to a breach with confidence.
Buying crime insurance gives you several coverage choices to protect your business from crime. Some of your choices are:
- Employee theft
- Theft of money and securities – on premises
- Theft of money and securities – off premises
- Forgery or alteration
- Computer and funds transfer fraud
Mobile and Miscellaneous Property Coverage (Inland Marine Coverage)
If you need more property coverage than what the basic policy provides, you can purchase Inland Marine Coverage to increase the limit on coverages like:
- Accounts receivable
- Installation floater
- Contractors equipment
