Wood and nails don’t make the home – the memories do.

What makes a house a home

It’s not the location, design or even the size of a house that makes it home – it’s everything that happens inside. When you think of home, what comes to mind? Here’s a collection of answers to that very question.

“Home is seeing a mug in the sink even though the dishwasher hasn’t been ran yet. There’s always that one mug.”

“The books stuffed into every available nook and cranny.”

“The tattered old blanket draped over our family room couch isn’t very attractive. But, when our big dog is lying next to me while I’m watching TV, it’s priceless.”

“Once my daughter gets home from school or practice, it’s a whirlwind. The kitchen has backpacks, books, soccer cleats and every other type of bag you can imagine on the floor.  I know one day I’ll miss tripping over them.”

“The toys that start out neatly organized off to the side of my living room, only to end up scattered across the house by the end of the day. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way!”

“We used wood from our barn that was destroyed in a tornado to make a bench and coat hooks. I just love it! It made our home cozier and I love the history behind it.”

“The endless amount of laughter (that I’m sure even our neighbors can hear) when we are all together!”

“The furry little roommates who keep my lint roller game #OnPoint.”

“The hand-me-downs that evoke memories every time I use them! My Grandma’s 1970’s sewing machine, my Mom’s old set of bright yellow stove pots, my Dad’s broken in tools, and my Grandpa’s books filled with handwritten notes.”

“Sitting on the deck together on a breezy summer evening, watching humming birds come and go, and remembering when our children laughed and tumbled on the soft green grass.”
