The DigitaLab was established by COUNTRY Financial Technology to develop and innovate digital projects. Over time, our work has evolved to include many aspects of information technology, from mobile and web application development to cloud computing, as well as data analytics.
We want to deliver everything our clients need, whatever form that takes. Today much of what clients want is the ability to do business online. We also want to establish capabilities that position us for how clients will want to interact with us in the future. We want to meet the changing needs and rising expectations of our clients by continuously innovating and building successful partnerships between academia and industry.
Our lab is located in the Research Park of University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, which connects private industry with faculty researchers and students. The park has more than 120 resident companies, including leading corporations and deep-tech startups.

This project is a web application that scores text sentiment specific to COUNTRY contexts. Interns organized data into classes, cleaned up the data, then used machine learning techniques to create a predictive model. COUNTRY Financial employees can use this application to predict sentiment of various data files.
This proof of concept project evaluated the database-as-a-service features of Azure Cloud and determined the feasibility of moving the SQL database to the cloud. Although the SQL Server performed the same, or a little better, than Azure Cloud during the tests, it comes with a cost of managing software licenses. Whereas, Azure Cloud could save hardware cost and scale easily with high availability over regions.
This project focuses on building an AI-based framework to handle customer requests, which will reduce Contact Center workload and expedite client experience.
