  1. The adjuster who took care of my claim said I would be responsible for paying the deductible. What is a deductible?

A deductible is the portion of a claim you agreed to pay when you purchased your insurance policy. The deductible could be applied each time you have a claim on your home/farm policy.

  2. Is there coverage under my home policy for water damage caused by sump pump overflow?

No. You must purchase a sump pump failure endorsement. COUNTRY offers an endorsement to cover losses caused by sump pump failure / backup of sewer or drains. Damage caused by sump pump failure is not covered under your basic policy.

  3. My tree was blown over during a recent windstorm. Do I have coverage to replace the tree?

If a tree falls on your home due to wind, we will pay to have the tree removed from the dwelling, to the ground, so your home can be repaired. We will also pay up to $500 to remove that part of the tree that damaged your home off of your premises. Your policy does not provide coverage to replace trees damaged in a storm.

  4. Am I protected against identity theft?

You are covered for identity theft if you have the ID Theft Endorsement. The coverage offered by COUNTRY provides two types of ID theft protection. First, policyholders are reimbursed for certain expenses as a result of becoming a victim. Secondly, COUNTRY connects victims with an advocacy service which specializes in assisting people to restore their good name.  Policyholders are assigned an advocate who notifies credit bureaus, creditors and collectors. The service also includes ongoing fraud monitoring and a full year of active follow-up service to make sure the policyholder’s good credit rating is fully restored.

  5. I think I have damage to my roof. Can someone come out and look to see if there is damage, so that I know if I should submit a claim?

You must report a claim. COUNTRY will then inspect your roof to determine if there is damage from a covered loss.

  6. I submitted a claim for a kitchen fire. Can you recommend people to do the work?

We recommend you ask family and friends for referrals. COUNTRY can provide you with names of contractors. However, it is your choice.

  7. Before my kitchen fire, I never liked the cabinets in my kitchen. Can I get nicer ones?

After you report your claim, COUNTRY will inspect and write an estimate to determine the damages as the result of the fire. We will write our estimate based on the cost to repair or replace the damaged property with standard new constructions materials of like kind and quality. You would be responsible for any increase in costs for “nicer” cabinets.
